Dunancory Bridge Virginia
McCabe Group were appointed by Cavan County Council as main contractors to complete the restoration and conservation of Dunancory Bridge in 2020. This vital piece of infrastructure, carrying over 9,000 vehicles daily, required extensive works to ensure its safety, durability and long-term functionality.
The project involved full restoration of the existing limestone bridge, construction of a new independent concrete structure to widen the crossing, and sensitive environmental management to protect local wildlife during construction. Despite significant challenges, including structural instability during excavation, McCabe Group successfully delivered a high-quality solution that preserved the historic character of the bridge while improving safety and accessibility.
