Derrylea Bridge Widening
Irish construction industry – Nominated for Civil construction project of the year 2023
McCabe Group successfully delivered the prestigious Derrylea Bridge widening project in Co. Cavan on behalf of Cavan County Council. The works involved realigning and widening the R194 over the Claddagh River to improve safety and traffic flow on a dangerous bend. The two-span masonry arch bridge was sympathetically extended with reinforced concrete arches, faced in stone to match the existing structure, ensuring both functionality and heritage preservation. This project was recognised at national level, being shortlisted for Civil Construction Project of the Year at the Irish Construction Industry Awards.
